The Smargon Laboratory welcomes self-motivated Ph.D. student applicants to apply*. 


Please email the following documents to Asst. Prof. Smargon and apply separately for a Ph.D. in the School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) via the NTU graduate student application portal (semiannual deadlines of July 31 and January 31)**:


  1. Statement of interest in the Smargon Laboratory that describes how your involvement would help you achieve your career goals (200-300 words)
  2. Curriculum vitae/résumé that includes a list of experimental and computational skills and the contact information of 2 professional references
  3. Non-scientific writing sample (optional but preferred) that you personally wrote in the last 5 years on a topic about which you are enthusiastic


Strongly preferred applicant qualifications:

  • Diverse research background
  • Experience and/or keen interest in molecular mechanisms of cellular ageing
  • Meaningful contribution on at least one impactful research manuscript published or under review
